Mission Statement

To be the expert organisation of choice in Europe for all brewing, governmental and technical organisations acting co-operatively in fundamental areas of brewing and malting science and technology for the benefit of the brewing industry, consumers and the community.

Purpose

EBC is the expert technical organisation for co-operation and joint activity between European brewers and maltsters.

EBC is the scientific and technological arm of The Brewers of Europe. and is perhaps best-known for hosting a technical brewing congress every two years, which is regularly attended by over 700 delegates exchanging important developments in the fileld of brewing science and technology. The first one was held in the Netherlands (Scheveningen) in 1947. More recently, the congress has moved from Budapest (2001) to Dublin (2003), Prague (2005) and Venice in 2007. Facilitating professional contacts among brewing scientists, production managers in the industry and suppliers is one the most significant outputs of the congress as is the collation and publication of the Proceedings, thereby summarising the congress contributions.
